What is Anatrim?

Anatrim spam email has worked its way into millions of mailboxes around the world.  So does it work?  A better question is who makes it?  Most people believe it to be made by a criminal element overseas.  The product name Anatrim is not registered in the U.S and there is extremely little information on the actual product online.  All I could find is that it contains Hoodia Gordonii
